Ayrton Senna is the Algarve Resident who, among all the celebrities, rich and famous people who are, were or became an Algarve Resident, remains the most revered of all.

In the Quinta do Lago luxury developement to the west of Faro, the avenue where he owned a home now bears his name and plaques commemorate his life there viz. Avenida Ayrton Senna, Motor Racing Champion, 1960-1994. No other sports champion, past or present, is so honoured.

Ayrton Senna da Silva was three times Formula 1 World Champion - in 1988, 1990 and 1991.
