In the USA golf is champion, brought to world-wide acclaim by one Arnold Palmer, respectfully known as home at home as ‘The King’. Whilst Arnie didn’t actually invent the game, he’s certainly been instrumental in taking it to the limit!
Now at Vilamoura, Queen Victoria is celebrated and the ‘kings’ vision, through his design of this course, has come to fruition in a small corner of South Western Europe.
On September 10th Arnie celebrated his 75th birthday and, on the same day, Victoria Golf Club was officially opened to the public. That the longest- reigning British Monarch’s great, great, great, great, great grandson, Prince Edward, attended the celebrations with his wife Sophie Rhys-Jones, was no mere coincidence.
